2008 NCCC People's Choice Concours/Car Show

August 2, 2008 ~
After a fun Inaugural Home Depot/NICC Car Show in 2007, the NICC Vettes came out of their garages
again for even a better show for 2008!
A total of 46 Corvettes from Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Texas entered this year's event, others stopped
by for a visit throughout the day and the D.A.R.E. Corvette and
the Thomases' 1986 racer were on display. Luanna Grimes and Johnny Chowaniec from Home Depot along with NICC Chairmen
Jim and Joan Thomas put in many hours of planning to make this year's show go smoothly but the show would not have run as smoothly without all
of the help from the NICC Members. It was nice to see so many NICC Shirts and smiles.
Ann Green won a Folding Three Legged Corvette Stool in the special drawing held for Members only. To be eligible, NICC Members needed to be wearing their NICC name tag.
Loves Park D.A.R.E.
Officer Randy Jones and his wife, Judy, also brought the D.A.R.E. van and had many visitors at their information booth.
The Illinois National Guard unit out of Machesney Park brought an Armored Security Vehicle that was a big hit with everyone.
The US Navy Recruiting Office based in Rockford sent 2 of their personnel to
promote their branch of the US Military. Past NICC Members in their Vettes and prospective NICC
Members
stopped by for a visit. What a fantastic show....something for everyone!!
Home Depot was again a marvelous Sponsor for our show blocking off a marvelous show space,
purchasing all of the Trophies, donating supplies and filling everyone with
pizza, salad and beverages. From set-up to break-down, the Home Depot employees were all
terrific!! Many of the Home Depot customers stopped by and took time to fill out a ballot.
Dale
& Carolyn Samuelson promoted the National Council of Corvette Clubs, Inc.
(NCCC) at a display table shared with Bruce & Mayer handing out NICC information
as well as information for the Future Corvette Owners Association (FCOA),
NCCC's youth program. Next door, Steven and Ann Green furnished information
regarding the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Cheryl Pointon and Marla Schiller manned a "Support the Troops"
table as well as pull their wagon around the show.
A big thanks to Arnie Bailey & Harry Pointon
for the many pictures capturing the flavor of the Show! A great time was had by all and it looks like the Club might be holding
this Show every year.
