| May 1, 2010 Spring Run What a great time we had on our first event of the year and a really big thank you to Tauna and Doug Billups for planning the Spring Run. We had about 30 Corvettes "chomping at the bit" to get moving as they were lined up in the Bocker dealership parking lot after enjoying coffee and doughnuts furnished by "our sponsors" and we thank them for that! We weren't sure what kind of day - weather wise - we would have since rain was predicted, the weather was chilly - but no rain. Our first stop was at "Raven's Grin" in Mt. Carroll - and the jury's still out on that one! Then it was "Poopy"s in Savanna for lunch and on to Clinton - and talk about wind - we had it. Then came the separation of the Men from the Boys or should I say it was more about age than anything else. The brave ones continued on to "Jumer's" casino in Rock Island and the rest of us headed on home. It was decided on long before this date that there was going to be a "sleep-over" (if you want to call it that) because after so much gambling - and EATING - no one could handle the long drive back home. Again, we have such a great club and it's because of members like Tauna and Doug that we are that GREAT Club! Janet Piefer Social Director February 28, 2010 Winter Get Together We sure had a good time for our February outing. We had twenty-five people for Italian Beef sandwiches at the Route 20 Bar & Grill and then to the Piefer's for dessert & coffee and some even went home with goodie plates. The door prize was won by Vicki Mulder and it was a crochet afghan that just fits in the Corvette for the chilly days when you still want the top down! ~Janet Piefer January 23, 2010 Winter Party at Cliffbreakers We had drizzle - we had fog - we had a beautiful large room, great appetizers, and wonderful food! We had the best servers and bartenders that we could have had! The "White Elephant" gift exchange was a BLAST- but above all, we had our steadily growing friendships and I think everyone had a good time at the "Winter Party" at Cliffbreakers Riverside Resort. I want to give a big thank you to my co-chair's Jeri Elliott and Carole Mayer for all their help! We should have pictures at our meeting on Sunday night and we'll also talk about the bus trip to the Autorama - formerly Chevy Vettefest. ~ Janet Piefer Click here to see some pictures! December 11, 2009 Christmas Open House at the Home of Brick & Kris Logan Club members were invited to Brick & Kris Logan's beautiful home in Byron for a Christmas get-together - and such a wonderful time we had! They were so gracious to welcome us again this year and their holiday decorations were so very beautiful we women thought we'd have to go home and do ours over again! The food was great - and so much of it - and everyone was stuffed when they were done. Brick was a very busy bartender and served up whatever anyone wanted and kept the glasses full. He also happened to serve some of us ladies "Chocolate Wine" which was very "refreshing". There were about thirty of us and it was so great to hear all the laughter and getting to know each other better. On behalf of all I want to say "thank you" to Brick & Kris and sorry to the rest of you who were unable to attend! ~ Janet Piefer |
