2007 NCCC People's Choice Concours/Car Show

August 25, 2007 ~
After days
and weeks of
cloudy skies and wet, rainy weather in and around Rockfordland, the sun came out
in Machesney Park- the ground dried off - and the NICC Vettes came out of their garages!
A total of 35 Corvettes (25 NICC Vettes and 10 Guest Vettes) were entered in the 2007 Home Depot and NICC
PC Concours/Car Show. Whether in the Show or on display or just stopping by and
staying for awhile during the day there were 48 Corvettes, the D.A.R.E. Corvette and
D.A.R.E. Van along with a HumVee and Van from the Illinois National Guard. Chairmen Joan
and Jim Thomas brought their 1987 Corvette Coupe and their 1986 Autocross Corvette
Coupe for display. Past NICC Members in their Vettes and prospective NICC
Members
stopped by for a visit. What a site!! Home Depot was a marvelous show
space as well as Sponsor of the show, purchasing all of the Trophies, donating
supplies and Gift Certificates and filling everyone with pizza, salad and
beverages. Special thanks to Tony Zangaro and his crew of helpers....they were
terrific!! Dale Samuelson promoted the National Council of Corvette Clubs, Inc.
(NCCC) at a display table shared with Bruce Mayer handing out NICC information.
They both offered information for the Future Corvette Owners Association (FCOA),
NCCC's youth program. Next door, Steven and Ann Green furnished information
regarding the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. And thank you to
all of the NICC Members that helped out and Mid America Motorworks for the very
generous Door Prizes. A big, big thanks to Arnie Bailey for most of these pictures! Thanks also to Loves Park D.A.R.E. Officer Randy Jones and Judy for
being such marvelous participants and especially for the "siren surprise" as
they were leaving. Everyone enjoyed the startle and the reaction of 2 little
show attendees. Cheryl Pointon and Marla Schiller manned a "Support the Troops"
table near the Illinois National Guard's information display. National Guardsmen Kurt, Richard and Corey had a great time with
those that stopped by to see them and check out the HumVee. Kids (both youth and
adult) were able to sit in it and honk its horn. A great time was had by all and talk
has started for having another Show next year.
